LOBBY IN THE WALL

The lo-fi South London trio that is lobby have just birthed their debut single 'in the wall'. lobby came together when musicians Lottie Pendlebury (guitarist/singer/songwriter Goat Girl) and Toby Evans-Jesra (guitarist/singer/songwriter leather.head) began playing music together, later enlisting a trusted friend in Josh Gormley on drums, who perfectly fit the third piece of this slowcore puzzle. Bands Duster and Sparklehorse come to mind when listening to lobby. Toby's voice is equally hoarse as it is soft, his tone wonderfully complementing Lottie's inventive vocals and harmonies. There's a sense of longing when the group vocals sing 'There's a hole in the wall', 'I don't know how long I can stay'. Lottie's strung-out violin merges with Josh Evans-Jesra's saxophone, drawing out a tragic beauty that makes your hairs stand on end. The track is also fleshed out by atmospheric contributions from Jacob Read (Jerkcurb/Horsey) on synth. 'in the wall' was co-produced and mixed by Jamie Neville (Pumarosa, PVA) at Teeth Studios in South East London. Listen to 'hole in the wall' here and watch the visualiser by Toby Evans-Jesra. -Ellie Rose-Davies
